Description: From Father Richard Gant I am director of communications for the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT). On a recent SOLT-sponsored pilgrimage with Totally Yours Pilgrimages from October 10 - 26, 2002, while at Lourdes, I came across this Hindu family from Sri Lanka washing in Lourdes water. I then gathered the whole group together and took their picture in front of the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. I was using a SONY DSC S70 digital camera. The above image of light came out next to Our Lady's statue. In the Catholic Church, our central act of worship is the sacrifice of the Mass, where we believe the bread is changed into the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus, and the same with the wine. Well, you see the chalice below with the Eucharistic bread slightly above it as the priest shows it to the people at Mass just before Holy Communion. Still farther up you see a single enlarged Host which the people receive in Holy Communion. |
