I am enclosing a photo we took on a fishing trip to Buckhorn Lakes, Montrose, Colorado. You will notice to the left of my husband in the picture a shield like square with a crude Indian head drawing and on closer look it appears to be a spear or something like it is sticking through it. This is not there. We even went back up to the Lakes to make sure there is not something that could be misconstrued. There is absolutely nothing there. Now this area is full of Ute Indian lore, but after a trip to the Ute Museum we could not verify anything as they do not have enough items (just info on Ouray and his wife from the 1800s and 1900s) to give a yes or no to this being of Ute origin. But we have hopes of getting in touch with a director of Ute descendancy who may be able to help us. As this photo is a very clear image it is of even more interest to us, and quite frankly, eerier to me.
